Painful baldness temporary

My Friend is going though chemo and has shaved her head. She said her head hurts really bad. To shower, wear a wig or a hat. Does anyone know what she can to to make her feel better?

Leila's reply: I remember the pain, like a fire. Luckily it is temporary and not dangerous. Shower hurts but I found that it helped to pour warm water gently over and over, towel pat-dry and then creaming the head liberally with something like Aveeno. Two or three days and it will feel normal. Aerate the head and go without wig or turban at home, even remove the wig when driving the car and feel the wind. Liberating. I loved showers and sleep with bald head.

When the hair starts growing back and is barely long enough to even see it, go out like that without covering it and feel like an artist in a trendy café like my son said. My daughter said you won't notice the absence of pain so take a temporary pain as a reminder how good it will feel soon again.
